No one wants to walk around looking like a scaly frog, especially during cuddle season. Who wants to have rough skin for your partner to rub on? To avoid super dry skin, here are a few remedies to help you and your skin make it safely through the winter.
Use Products That Are Less Harsh For The Skin
For your face using a bland cleanser is the best bet. Keeping it simple without all of the exfoliating beads, colored pigments, etc. is great during winter. For your body, staying away from any fragranced body wash is best. Dove and Cetaphil products are the best to use for face and body during these brutal weather conditions. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Avoid hot Showers & Baths
We all love a hot shower but during the winter, scale back on how hot we let the water get. Hot water actually dehydrates the skin. Especially for those who do not moisturize their entire body immediately after showering. The dryness creates cracks in the surface of the skin and when your skin nerves get exposed to the cold air, it gives eczema like symptoms or
what some like to call “winters itch”. If you can’t let go of that hot water oasis, make sure you moisturize very well and keep the door closed while you shower. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Use the best moisturizer daily
This is clearly a no brainer but there are some specifics that can take your skin from sleek to baby soft. One of those mentions is that you should be using creams to moisturize, not lotions. People think they are the same, but during winter, creams will help your skin hold more of the moisture in. Secondly, put a natural oil on your body BEFORE you get in the shower to help keep some of your natural oils on your skin. Some of the best natural oils are argan, coconut, tea tree, and rose. These oils are good for your face as well, whereas the same moisturizer you use on your body may not be ideal for your face depending on how acne prone your skin is. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Don’t Go Into The Cold With Your Skin Still Damp
This is just like when you lick your lips because they are dry, and then think that little bit of moisture will make them significantly better. It only makes it worse. Make sure to dry completely before putting on clothes because you would be surprised what even a little bit of dampness, even if you can’t feel it, can do after being out all day during a brutal winter. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We know. Every make up and skin guru’s worse thoughts. Depending on your current exfoliation regimen you may be able to skip this step. One per week is usually a good amount during winter. Do it on a day that you don’t have to leave the house very much. It will really allow your moisturizer to penetrate and take effect.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you follow these tips, you’ll be ready to come into Spring Break 2018 with skin glowing, popping, shining, and all that great stuff. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
