50 Cent Suing His Lawyers Over Losing Sex Tape Lawsuit

50 Cent was ordered to cough up $7 million to Rick Ross’ baby mama, Lavonia Leviston, after he leaked her sex tape on his website in the midst of a beef he had with the MMG rapper. As a result, 50 Cent filed for bankruptcy and now he is turning up the heat on his former attorneys, claiming they were incompetent and the reason he lost the case.

According to The Wrap, 50 Cent, real name Curtis Jackson, is suing Reed Smith law firm and attorney Peter Raymond for $32 million. In the lawsuit, Jackson claims that if it weren’t for the “neglectful, negligent and unethical conduct of Raymond and Reed Smith,” he wouldn’t have had to file for bankruptcy following the Leviston case.

“Reed Smith and Raymond did not follow established legal standards in representing Jackson in the Leviston Case by failing to provide effective representation and conduct proper pre-trial and trial preparation prior to the Leviston trial,” the complaint reads. “In addition, their lack of effective representation and inadequate pre-trial preparation and preparation for trial caused Jackson to retain new counsel on the eve of trial.”

Jackson also says that Reed Smith “had an unwaivable conflict of interest regarding key material witnesses” that it failed to disclose, and failed to cooperate with his new counsel despite its promise to do so, which “which caused Jackson to be subject to an unfavorable jury verdict.”

As a result, 50 Cent seeks $7 million in actual damages and $25 million in punitive damages. A month ago the rapper won a case against another law firm, Garvey Schubert Barer, and took to social media to brag about the victory. In an Instagram caption 50 wrote, “I just got 14.5 million back from one Law Firm For malpractice. They fucked up so bad I don’t think they should be practicing law.”

Likely after being notified that he could have further legal trouble on his hands, 50 then edited his previous statement to say, “I retract my earlier statements about the legal services provided to me by the law firm of Garvey Schubert Barer. The law firm and I have settled our dispute and I consider the issue closed.”
