A$AP Rocky Says If Not For Soulja Boy “A$AP Rocky Probably Wouldn’t Be Around”

A$AP Rocky says if wasn’t for SouljaBoy, he probably wouldn’t have made it as a rapper.

It definitely appears to be the year of #BigDraco; several artists have recently come out to share their praise and affirmation of his talent. The latest celeb to speak on his influence is A$ap Rocky, who says if he had never seen Soulja Boy rapping on the internet, his rap career may have never existed.

“If it wasn’t for Soulja Boy, A$ap Rocky probably wouldn’t be around,” he said, plainly. “It’s not too far-fetched as me saying ‘If it wasn’t for Kanye and Pharrell I wouldn’t be able to do what I do in fashion.'” Rocky added that Soulja greatly influenced the way modern rappers promote and brand themselves on digital platforms.

While Rocky has great respect for Soulja, the New York native says he has yet to meet him. He had a window of opportunity to chat it up with Big Soulja at Yams Day, ASAP Ferg’s annual event in honor of the late #ASAPYam, but missed it because he was busy running the event.

“I never met him yet,” Rocky admitted. “He showed up to Yams Day and, unfortunately, I was in the back cursing out some sound people.”
