Will Smith sent out a reminder via Instagram about the upcoming Disney remake “Aladdin”, in which he will be playing the beloved genie. It has been announced that the movie is set to hit theaters on May 24, 2019.

The remake stars Mena Massoud as Aladdin and Naomi Scott as Princess Jasmine. Will Smith plays the genie, which was originally voiced by the late #RobinWilliams in the 1992 animated version. Earlier this year, Will stated that his interpretation of the role is “a little bit Hitch, a little Fresh Prince and a whole lot of attitude.” The cast insists that the film doesn’t replace Robin Williams in any way, Smith just put his own spin on the character, so don’t expect the old genie in this new version.

“Aladdin” will be shown in theaters nationwide.
