Ariana Grande: “I’ve Loved Mac Miller Since I Was 19”

Pop princess Ariana Grande covers the April 2017 edition of Cosmopolitan, rocking her signature slicked back ponytail.

In the issue, on stands March 7th, Grande dishes about her relationship with rapper Mac Miller, feminism, and looking up to Madonna.

“I met him when I was 19. We have loved and adored and respected each other since the beginning, since before we even met, just because we were fans of each other’s talent,” Grande says of boyfriend Miller. “We weren’t ready at all, though, to be together. It’s just timing.”

Grande first met Miller to collaborate on her debut single, “The Way,” back in 2013. Since then, she has been linked to YouTube comedian Jai Brooks, singer Nathan Sykes, and most recently rapper Big Sean.

Though Grande’s dating life is subject to judgment, the singer says she is not defined by her relationships,”I’ve never looked at love as something that I need to complete me. I would like to be complete on my own first and fall in love with somebody who is also complete.”

Grande is a self-proclaimed feminist, and most recently participated in the LA Women’s March.

“A lot of times, women are labeled as a bitch or a diva for having a vision and being strong and using her voice, and it’s just not the case. You can be strong and friendly. [We] don’t have to be just one thing,” Grande proclaims.

Citing Madonna as one of her role models, Grande has “the utmost respect for that woman. I love her with every ounce of my being, and not just because I’m obsessed with her entire discography. I’m so inspired by her bravery and her strength. I can look at her and not be scared to be strong.”
