Baller Alert’s Today in Hip-Hop: Notorious B.I.G Releases Debut Album ‘Ready to Die’ ⠀

On this exact day, 23 years ago, Notorious B.I.G released his debut album ‘Ready to Die’. Not only was this the album to launch the iconic emcee’s career, but it also catapulted the reputation of Bad Boy Records, as the first album to release on the label.

⠀⠀⠀
Whether it was ‘Juicy’ or ‘One More Chance’, people across the world could not deny the sound, charisma, and lyricism of Biggie Smalls.

⠀⠀⠀
Receiving many accolades such as, No. 3 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and #8 on Rolling Stone’s ‘100 Best Albums of the Nineties’ list, the album is without a doubt one of the greatest hip-hop albums of the era.

⠀⠀⠀
Though Biggie, born Christopher Wallace, was unable to see the release of his second body of work ‘Life After Death’ (1997), this album was enough to trademark him as a rap icon.
