Ballerific Woman: Kahlana Barfield Brown, Fashion & Beauty Guru

– Blogged By @Climb_This_Hill

In a perfect world, people of color would be presented the same opportunities as their white counterparts. Unfortunately, this world is far from perfect, however, there are people, more specifically women, who have dedicated their time, money and education to make a positive change. They’ve used their experiences and their encounters with injustices to fight and/or create more opportunities for their children and their children’s children, in an effort to make the world a better place. This is #BlackExcellence. These are #BallerificWomen.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

One of those special individuals is Ms. Kahlana Barfield Brown.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

An alum of Howard University, #KahlanaBrown, a flourishing editor at InStyle Magazine, has always been in love with the beauty industry.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Always in touch with the latest fashion and beauty’s trends, Kahlana, has shared her tips and tricks with some of entertainments most watch celebrities. And we all know how high-maintenance celebrity icons can get, so earning their trust speaks volumes to Kahlana’s overall taste and character.

Kahlana’s parents always stressed the importance of education, however, you decide to get it. Her parents made it a goal for her as a black woman to somehow make a difference and use her uniqueness as an asset.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

She’s a big dreamer and believer! Starting off at the bottom, Kahlana got her break into the fashion industry by opening mail and running errands for Suede Magazine. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Slowly, but surely Kahlana stayed persistent in following her dreams, and after a series of elevations, Ms. Kahlana found herself as InStyle’s — Fashion & Beauty Editor-At-Large.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The young twenty-something has made it known that achieving your dreams takes a lot of hustling, sacrifices, and stepping out of your comfort zone for every opportunity that comes your way.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Kahlana used many of the lessons learned while being an elite member of Howard’s sorority, Delta Sigma Theta, to stay confident and driven when perusing her career in the fashion industry.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Being that the fashion industry continues to develop at high volumes and is known to have a high turn over rate of who’s driving and impacting the industry, Kahlana has managed to stay at the top and shows no signs of slowing down.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

With her personality being as bold and chic as her style, we know Ms. Kahlana’s creative mind is always going!

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Kahlana Brown is a prime example that being confident in yourself and your abilities will get you to where you want to go no matter the odds.
