Ballerific Music: 50 Songs You Had No Business Listening To Growing Up

Growing up in the 80’s, 90’s and even early 2000’s, we have heard music that may have been inappropriate, however, we knew all the words. At that time, we did not know what we were singing. We just knew it was catchy. There are many times when you listened to Isley Brothers “Between the Sheets” and did not understand the lyrics but your momma and grandma played it faithfully. You knew Marvin Gaye wanted to “Get it On” and had a “Sexual Healing” but didn’t know exactly what he was talking about. These are songs we grew up to love and knew we had no business singing them.

In the early 90’s,  what did we really know about  R. Kelly and 12 Play? Did you really know what Next’s “Too Close” was referring to when it played on the radio every hour?  I know for a fact that the lyrics now have you thinking, “Why were we jamming to these freaky songs?”

We asked a few of our Twitter followers what songs they enjoyed that they knew they had no business listening to. Check out 50 songs our followers shared via Twitter in no particular order:
