In August 1991, Bunn was convicted of killing a correction officer. Bunn maintained that he was innocent, however, due to tampered evidence and a crooked trial, Bunn and then 17-year-old Rosean Hargrave were locked away for 20 years, according to Vibe.

“They won’t admit I’m an innocent man,” Bunn, now 41-years-old said. “Y’all had the wrong man this whole time and you have (someone) out there running free and y’all had no right to do what you did.” He added, “It has been 27 years, I’ve been fighting for my life and I’ve been fighting for my innocence.”

But after almost 30 years a judge finally granted Bunn his exoneration. During his retrial, he hugged his attorneys and held the judge’s hands showering her with gratefulness.

Bunn and his co-defendant were wrongly imprisoned for killing two officers around 4 a.m. on August 13, 1991. The suspects were two men who wanted to steal their car. One officer died, while the other Robert Crosson lived. Police got an anonymous tip which led them to Bunn and the other teen. Crosson identified the two boys as the suspects, and during their 1-day trial, Crosson served as the only witness.
