Bobby Brown’s Sister Opens Up About Taking Whitney Houston’s 2006 Bathroom Photo, Says It Was At A “Low And Self-Destructive” Point In Their Lives

On May 25, Pusha T released his highly anticipated third solo album, “Daytona,” which featured a Rick Ross verse, a Drake diss and a controversial cover art photo. The photo, which reportedly cost Kanye West $85,000 to license, showed Whitney Houston’s drug-strewn bathroom after an alleged drug binge.

Since then, Houston’s family has expressed widespread disappointment and disgust with both West and Pusha T for their decision to feature the picture. However, one family member refused to put the blame on the rappers. Instead, Gary Michael Houston, the son of Houston’s older brother Michael, directed his outrage to “the person who violated the trust of my aunt by taking the photo and selling it to the tabloids” in the first place.

In 2006, the National Enquirer published the photo of Houston’s bathroom filled with drug paraphernalia, which was secretly taken by a family member earlier that year to expose Houston’s drug habits.

But now, Bobby Brown’s sister, who admits she snapped the photo, wants everyone to be clear that she did not get paid for West’s use. However, she still regrets taking the photo, even though it was at a “low and self-destructive” time in her life.

“Kanye West did not purchase the picture from me or my son,” Tina Brown told The Blast, adding that the National Enquire owns the rights to the picture after she sold it in 2006. “During the time the picture was taken, in 2006, my sister Whitney and I were at a very low and self-destructive point in our lives, it was not only her mess, it was mine as well.”

“Together, she and I decided to take the pictures in the bathroom and share with the world, the pain we were going through … it was a united cry for help,” Brown said. However, she insists the photo was “not at all a betrayal of one another.”

“Throughout that chaotic time and until her death, Whitney and I remained the best of friends and sisters,” she said, adding, “the public attention and speculation, brought on by Kanye’s broadcasted purchase of that picture and usage have opened old wounds.”
