California Man Could Face Battery Charges For Snatching Wigs Off The Heads Of Orthodox Jewish Women, Police Consider It A Hate Crime

Police in Los Angeles have arrested a man accused of snatching wigs off #Orthodox Jewish women in what investigators are calling possible hate crimes.

In the first incident, an 80-year-old woman had her wig snatched from her head on a North Hollywood street on Sept. 19, which was the Jewish holiday of #YomKippur. Police say the man smiled and handed her back the wig. In another incident, according to US News, the man tried to pull the wig from a 36-year-old woman in the same neighborhood. He also ripped the wig from a 58-year-old woman but that time, threw it on the ground.

Investigators believe the suspect targeted the three victims because of their religious beliefs, as all three women are members of the Orthodox Jewish community in the area, who wear head coverings as a sign of modesty.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Authorities found the suspect at his home in #ShermanOaks and he wasn’t cooperating with police. His name has not yet been released. Police say he could be facing multiple battery charges.
