For the last 24 hours Bronx newly rising star, #CardiB has been arguing with Harlem artist, #AzealiaBanks, after Banks referred to Cardi as
‘a caricature of a black woman’ during an interview on The Breakfast Club radio show Friday.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“I’m just talking about this caricature of a black woman that black women themselves would never be able to get away with”, she said. “Like, if my spelling and grammar was that bad, I’d be canceled. If Nicki Minaj spelled like that, we would be ragging on her all day,” Banks said.

Cardi reiterated her hood upbringing and how not even fame could make her act or speak a different way. While also questioning Banks’ motive for advocacy given her previous contradictions towards her support of black women (i.e. bleaching her skin).

Continuing to entertain the trolling, Cardi posted an interview Banks did where she contradicts her sudden negative feelings towards Cardi.
“I really, really like Cardi B. I followed Cardi B on Instagram before she started rapping and was like, oh my God, this girl just reminds me of all the girls I went to middle school with, all the girls I grew up on the block with, all the Dominican babysitters. I grew up with girls just like Cardi B. So I always thought she was funny, and when she started rapping I was like… what is she doing? Then I heard “Foreva” And was like okay, this is really f*cking good, she’s not playing. Then I heard a couple other songs, and was like, Oh shit Cardi’s not playing! And now I’m a fan of Cardi B’s music and her personality,” Banks said in a previous interview when asked what female MCs she was currently supporting.

Cardi continued to clap back by posting her Met Gala photo captioned “STUPID HOE, UNIMPORTANT, UNATTRACTIVE, UNEMPLOYED ?????? Tell a Maddie get some GWAP GWAP BICKENHEAD !!!” Another photo proceeded with the text “SUCK MY A**.”

Banks then replied on Twitter, but, now inserting Cardi’s personal relationship, “You’re illiterate, you’re baby mama 4/5 to [a] man who has women crawling out of the woodworks with kids, videos of your n—a f–king other women…you’re a real life episode of Maury sis…” She continued, “The fact that your overall statistic-ness is being merited as success is a clear indication that the suits backing you are using you as a weapon against black women’s consciousness and culture.”

The final comment in the feud was a lengthy statement posted to Cardi’s Instagram just before the account was deactivated. “A woman who constantly finds joy in belittling black women… can’t try and stand for them because it’s convenient! The difference between me and you, I’ve never pretended to be or represent someone I’m not! I’ve made it where I am for being myself and staying true to that. I’m not trying to represent nobody but myself,” she wrote. “I know who I am! A daughter to a Hispanic father and a Caribbean mother and I’m proud of that!”

She also slammed Banks for calling her “illiterate.”
“How smart are you if you don’t know that the meaning of illiterate means to not know how to read or write. I can do both, and speak two languages fluently. Just because I mix a few words up forget to use commas or misspell a few words doesn’t make me illiterate and doesn’t make me stupid.”

Cardi ended the statement by saying she is praying for Banks.
“You think your advocating for women and your (you’re) doing the opposite! I pray you find peace in your own heart and reason in your own mind! Pray for your own success before you pray for the downfall of others!” she concluded.

After no longer being on Instagram, the “Bodak Yellow” rap star tweeted, “I’m tired of the bullshit. I need to enjoy my pregnancy, family, new projects and my partner. Listen to Invasion of privacy.”
