Carl Weathers Open To Role In “Creed” Sequel

“Creed” took the box office by storm and became an instant favorite among viewers. Since the film’s debut there has been speculation about a possible sequel to the new age boxing film. Carl Weathers, the actor who played Apollo Creed, says that if granted the opportunity, he would reprise his role.

Carl Weathers played boxer Apollo Creed in the “Rocky” films, who was the father of Adonis Johnson(Michael B. Jordan) in the latest film, “Creed”.

People reports, Weathers would love to be a part of the sequel cast. He said, “If I could get a role as cool at this point as Rocky’s was then yeah, in a heartbeat I’d be back in. It’s always about the role. Just to say to be Apollo Creed again, I don’t think that’s enough for any actor. You want to see what the character’s about at this particular point.”

Although Apollo Creed died in the film “Rocky IV”, if Weathers returns to the cast he’d most likely appear in a series of flashbacks that help showcase Adonis character.

It is still unsure whether or not “Creed 2” will be in production, but Weathers said he couldn’t be happier with his part in the franchise.

“God how could I not love that and what it’s brought to the table in terms of opportunity and a chance to play a role that’s pretty much an iconic role at this point,” he said.
