“Clueless” Is Coming Back To The Big Screen Thanks To “Girl’s Trip” Writer Tracy Oliver And Paramount Pictures

A remake of the 1995 mega-hit movie Clueless is in the beginning stages of production through Paramount Pictures, with Girls Trip writer Tracy Oliver producing and GLOW writer Marquita Robinson as the script creator. Although not too many details have been released, the announcement is still worth the excitement.

For the 90s babies that may or may not be familiar with the original movie, “Clueless” was directed and written by #AmyHeckerling and was set around Beverly Hills high school students Cher (Alicia Silverstone), Dionne (Stacey Dash), Tai (Brittany Murphy), Josh (Paul Rudd) and Murray (Donald Faison). The film was about the teens high class, high fashion, day to day life in true 90s form.

According to Variety, the original movie was loosely based on Jane Austen’s 1815 novel, “Emma,” with Silverstone playing the Emma Woodhouse character and Rudd as George Knightley, the ultimate object of her affection.

The movie earned $56 million in the U.S. off of a $12 million budget, which eventually led to a three-season tv spinoff, with most of the original movie characters, except Silverstone who was replaced by Rachel Blanchard in 1996.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The remake comes shortly after the announcement of “Clueless: The Musical” on Broadway. The musical goes into previews on November 20th and opens December 11 at The Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center.

Now, this is a remake for the 90’s nostalgia lovers!
