Florida Mom Shot by 4-Year-Old Son, May Face Charges – blogged by @MsJennyb

On March 8th, Florida mom, Jamie Gilt, was shot in the back by her 4-year-old son while she was driving. PEOPLE reports, Gilt placed a loaded gun underneath the front seat of her car. The gun, then, slid to the back of her car as she drove. The 4-year-old unbuckled himself, grabbed the gun, and returned to his seat. At some point he fired a single shot into the back of the drivers seat, into his mother’s back. 

Sources say, detectives are considering filing a single misdemeanor charge against Jamie Gilt for allowing a child access to a firearm. Such charge could result in 180 days in jail if convicted. 

Florida’s child welfare agency has launched its own investigation into the shooting.
