Football Player Who Was Accused Of Rape, Brian Banks, Is Getting Married

Remember Brian Banks, the high school football star who spent over 5 years in prison for allegedly raping Wanetta Gibson, only to find out she was a liar and a crook? Shortly after Banks was released from jail, he was signed by the Atlanta Falcons, and now just 2 years later he is heading for marriage.

Banks, now 29 years old, will be his girlfriend of 3 years, Emmy, very very soon. The couple plan to trade vows in a small Vegas ceremony. Banks posted a photo just an hour ago of he and Emmy on their way to Vegas for the celebration. NFL insider Jay Glazer and former UFC fighter Frank Trigg will be in attendance. A U.S. Navy officer plans to fly the USA flag over Camp Lemonnier during the moment of Brian’s “I Dos”. Sounds like a pretty memorable moment.

I’m glad Brian Banks has gotten a second lease on life considering that his early 20’s were entirely stripped from him. Currently Banks speaks to the youth about sexual assault on campus. Most recently speaking on both assault victims, and those who have been falsely accused.  He also spoke at the 2015 Faces of Innocence ceremony for prisoners who have been exonerated. “During this part of the ceremony, I asked all exonerees to stand one at a time. I gave a brief description of their struggle: what they were wrongfully accused of, how much time they lost being incarcerated, and how long they’ve now been home. I then ask that they hold up their prison number. The number that replaced their name for so many years. “TEAR THAT NUMBER UP! And reclaim your name!” I lead the way, starting with my own.”

Congrats on the nuptials Brian!
