At this point, everyone knows Megan Thee Stallion as the hottest new female rapper in hip hop, creating her own lane and staying in it. But behind every successful artist, is a professional who believes in their talent and for Megan, that person was former baseball player Carl Crawford.
Apparently, Crawford has had a hand in Megan’s expedited fame, signing her to his label 1501 Certified Ent. Since his time off the baseball field, Crawford had put his efforts (and money) into building a music empire, and he expressed to TMZ that he’s in the music game for the long haul. He said, “We got Megan, and we think she’s gonna be a huge star. And, not only her … we’re hoping we have other people come up through the system as well.”
The former left fielder spent 15 years in the MLB and made over $179 million during his career. He said a large portion of that went towards launching his own record label. “It was at least seven figures, I’ll tell you that. And, that’s because I built a studio and all that other stuff,” he said.
With Megan as his first big act, it’s safe to say Crawford may have a knack for finding great talent. Megan’s album ‘Fever’ dropped last week and is expected to land in the Billboard Top 10 very soon. Go Megan, go!
