Former NFL Safety Keion Carpenter Dies

39 year old Keion Carpenter, who spent seven seasons with the Buffalo Bills and Atlanta Falcons, died Thursday morning after a tragic accident.

According to Yahoo Sports, Carpenter was in Miami vacationing with his family when he fell while playing with his son on Wednesday. “They were running to the car when he slipped, fell, hit his head and slipped into a coma,” Jamila Smith, a cousin, told the Baltimore Sun. “It was just a freak accident. He was always healthy; he went to the doctor, ate well and worked out.”

Carpenter remained in a coma before being pronounced dead at 6:47 Thursday morning. The family said his remains will be flown back to Baltimore for burial.
