GLAAD Announces Madonna As LGBTQ Award Recipient For Advocacy

Being a musical pioneer isn’t the only title #Madonna can be proud of.

The rebellious icon has been called on by GLAAD to receive the Advocate for Change Award. The 30th GLAAD Media Awards dubbed the “Material Girl” with the honor because of her pursuit of creating and accepting society through music. The organization’s President/CEO, Kate Ellis, stated:

“Madonna always has and always will be the LGBTQ community’s greatest ally, and it is only fitting to honor and celebrate our biggest advocate at GLAAD’s biggest event ever. From the HIV crisis to international LGBTQ issues, she fearlessly pushes for a world where LGBTQ people are accepted. Her music and art have been life-saving outlets for LGBTQ people over the years, and her affirming words and actions have changed countless hearts and minds.”

The illustrious honor has only been given once before in 2013 to Bill Clinton thanks to his work towards marriage equality. Now, the famous revolutionary is next up to bask in all her glory.
