Issa Rae is set to star in a new romantic comedy titled “Lovebirds,” alongside “The Big Sick” star Kumail Nanjiani.
”Lovebirds” tells the story of an interracial couple (Rae and Nanjiani) who are considering breaking up but subsequently become involved in a murder mystery where they will need to clear their names. While the two embark on this adventure, they end up analyzing their own relationship.
The writers for the film include Aaron Abrams, Brendan Gall, and Martin Gero with Tom Lassally, Oly Obst, Todd Schulman, Jordana Mollick and Gero serving as producers for the movie, Vibe reports. Rae and Nanjiani will act as executive producers. ”Lovebirds” is set to go into production at the end of January; there is no release date as of yet.
