Ivanka Trump Booed During Women’s Panel for Defending Donald Trump

Ivanka Trump was interrupted by boos at a women’s panel in Berlin on Tuesday after she tried to defend her father’s commitment to women’s issues. Upon the sudden opposition from the audience, Ivanka introduced herself and discussed her position in the White House alongside her father, Donald Trump.

Miriam Meckel asked the First Daughter who she represented, her father, the American people, or her business, to which Ivanka explained her unfamiliarity with her role as a top adviser.

“Well, certainly not the latter, and I am rather unfamiliar with this role as well, as it is quite new to me,” Trump said. “It’s been a little under 100 days, but it is just been a remarkable, an incredible journey.”

Trump went on to describe her experience thus far, just as the conversation shifted to women’s rights. Amid the discussion, the audience began to boo and hiss at the First Daughter as she explained how proud she was of her father and his advocacy for working-class families and women’s rights.

“That is something I’m very proud of my father’s advocacy, long before he came into the presidency, he championed this in the primaries. He’s been a tremendous champion of supporting families and enabling them to thrive,” Trump said of her father, who signed a bill just hours after his inauguration, that would increase mortgage rates for working-class families and first-time buyers.

The crowd began to boo Trump, as she continued discussing The Donald’s take on women, despite his previous controversial “p*ssy” grabbing statements.

“I’ve certainly heard the criticism from the media and that’s been perpetuated, but I know from personal experience, and I think the thousands of women who have worked with and for my father for decades when he was in the private sector are a testament to his belief and solid conviction in the potential of women and their ability to do the job as well as a man,” she said.

“So I think in my personal experience —and you were asking me about my role as daughter —and as an adviser, as a daughter, I can speak on a very personal level knowing that he encouraged me and enabled me to thrive,” Trump said.
