We learned on the second episode of #RedTableTalk that Pinkett-Smith felt her biggest loss in life was losing herself. While answering questions with her mother and daughter co-hosts on Wednesday, she opened up about that moment. Pinkett-Smith said she “was withered, curled up in a ball about to die.”

“Will [Smith] had always told me to put myself first, and I had never really understood what that meant. I think when I got more understanding about it, and he got more understanding about what that meant, it took a lot of communication. At the end of the day, Will is extremely supportive of giving me what I need,” she said.

The 46-year-old actress said raising her children, working on her marriage, co-parenting a stepson, managing her professional “persona” and “this world of Hollywood,” all played a part into her losing herself. However, challenging herself pushed her through her adversity.

In the end, Pinkett-Smith said her emptiness came to an end after she woke up and asked herself, “What makes you happy?”
Smith continued, “literally I had no idea, to the point where I didn’t know how to dress myself. Fashion used to be my thing and I’m just now starting to pay attention to that again.”
