Jerry Jones Threatens to Bench Players Who “Disrespect the Flag”

Jones

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has doubled down on his statement that kneeling during the national anthem will not be tolerated.

Following the Texas team’s 35-31 loss to Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers, Jones condemned the NFL for allowing its players to exercise their first amendment rights. He then warned players of the consequence that comes with “disrespecting the flag,” saying “If there is anything disrespecting the flag, then we will not play. Period.”

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

“We’re going to respect the flag and I’m going to create the perception of it,” he added, Sunday night.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Prior to the game, as the team stood during the anthem, at least two raised their fist at the end of the performance to show solidarity. However, Jones said he was not aware of the demonstration.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

As the presser continued, Jones discussed Pence’s publicity stunt at the Colts-49ers game, saying, “He felt that not standing for the flag is disrespectful. I do, too.”

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

“The league in my mind should absolutely take the rules we have on the books and make sure that we do not give the perception that we’re disrespecting the flag,” he said, adding that Trump called him, concerned about the protests.

⠀⠀

Despite the fact that many, including Trump, have turned Colin Kaepernick’s peaceful protest against police brutality and racial inequality into a political circus act, several veterans and soldiers have spoken out in solidarity. Photos have even surfaced of veterans taking a knee during the anthem; however, people are still opposed to the movement. Many have booed demonstrators for kneeling in solidarity prior to the anthem, as well as assaulting fans who demonstrate during the anthem, but chose to ignore the real meaning behind the protest. So, why are you really mad?
