Tuesday night, the entertainment world received the devastating news that legendary comedian and actor John Witherspoon had passed away at age 77. John’s son, JD Witherspoon, confirmed the news via Twitter, which was followed by an outpouring of condolences and support from fans and entertainers alike.

Witherspoon was best known for his roles as “Pops” in the 90s hit TV-sitcom ‘The Wayans Bro’s’, Willie Jones in the ‘Friday’ movie franchise and Robert Jebediah “Granddad” Freeman in the controversial animated series, “The Boondocks”, all of which spawned some of the comedian’s funniest and most notable quotes. Here’s a look back at some of his most memorable quotes.

Friday: “Every time I come in the kitchen, you in the kitchen. In the goddamn refrigerator.“

Next Friday: “Put some hot sauce on my burrito, baby”

Boomerang: “The secret is you got to coordinate, most people don’t coordinate”

Boomerang: “Don’t be pussy whipped! Whip that pussy!”

Friday: “Don’t nobody go in the bathroom for about 35-45 minutes.”

The Wayans Bro’s: “YITADEE!”

The Wayans Bro’s/Boomerang: “BANG! BANG! BANG!”

MOST MEMORABLE – Friday: “You win some, you lose some. But you live to fight another day.”

‘Friday’ won’t feel the same knowing that we’ve lost an icon. The final installment of the movie entitled “Last Friday” is set to be released on the original film’s 25th anniversary, April 25, 2020. But in the mournful words of Ice Cube, “Life won’t be as funny without him.” May you Rest In Peace, Mr. Witherspoon. Thank you for the endless laughs.
