It’s been a great year of film with record-breaking sales and tons of superhero movies, but audiences can’t seem to get enough of the Joker. The new ’Joker’ movie is exceeding expectations and is well on its way to reaching $1 billion in box office sales. So far, the film has earned $737.5 million coming in second to ’Deadpool,’ which earned $783 million and holds the current record.
Disney’s ’Maleficent’ and ’Gemini Man’ had disappointing opening sales; however, the buzz around ’Joker’ and Joaquin Phoenix’s performance is making him a good contender for an Oscar win. With the film becoming the most talked about movie of the year, the psychological thriller is attracting audiences worldwide. There’s speculation that without a release in China, the film won’t be able to reach the $1 billion mark, but amidst all of the controversy and low budget to deter its release, this film is holding its own and proving all the naysayers wrong.
