Singer Kesha was denied her request for a preliminary injunction Friday, by a Manhattan Supreme Court judge. Kesha was hoping to be released from her contract with Sony that would remove her from working with producer Dr. Luke.
Back in 2014, , Kesha filed a lawsuit against Dr. Luke (real name Lukasz Gottwald), whose production company is part of Sony. Billboard reported, the lawsuit detailed claims that Dr. Luke abused Kesha for years, including forcing her to snort drugs, giving her “sober pills” and raping her.
The judge, Justice Shirley Kornreich said she would not “decimate a contract that was heavily negotiated.”
Sony did offer to let Kesha work with another producer, however she feared Sony wouldn’t promote her music if she did.
As of now Dr. Luke has not been criminally charged.
While today was not a great day in court for Kesha, fans made it known that they are here to fight with her.
Keep your head Kesha.
