Kanye West Files Lawsuit Against Jay-Z’s Roc-A-Fella Records, Claims His Work On “The Blueprint” Helped “Revitalize Jay-Z’s Career”

Kanye West is burning bridges, one by one, and this time, he’s going after his brother from another mother, Jay-Z.

In new court documents obtained by The Blast, West accused Jay-Z and his famed Roc-A-Fella Records label of holding out on money that is owed to him.

West also named Island Def Jam in the suit, citing issues over “the parties’ rights and obligations to one another under the Recording Agreement and Extensions.”

While most of the suit is redacted, including the “nature of the dispute” and damages, in one part of the suit, according to the publication, West claims his catapult to fame, through writing and producing on Jay’s classic album, “The Blueprint,” ultimately helped “revitalize Jay-Z’s career.”

Apparently, West also filed a similar suit against EMI, the song publisher that handled his publishing rights since 2003. However, that too is mostly redacted, but it did say, “there now exists a dispute between Plaintiffs and Defendant EMI regarding the parties’ rights and obligations to one another under the EMI Contract and Extensions.”
