Kelly Rowland Delivers Soulful Rendition of “Midnight Train to Georgia” as Gladys Knight in First Look of New BET Series, “American Soul”

Four decades after the inception of the iconic music-dance television program, Soul Train – created by the legendary Don Cornelius, who also served as the first host and executive producer – BET ordered a new series to celebrate the hit show.

In a series, titled, “American Soul,” the network is set to explore the rise of the hit 70s show, highlighting iconic acts that helped catapult the show to historical success.

In fact, according to reports, Kelly Rowland and Kelly Price have signed on to be apart of the cast, with Rowland taking on the role as #GladysKnight, one of the first acts booked on the show.

Now, in a behind the scenes look at cast and crew, TMZ secured the first pictures and videos of Rowland as Knight.

In one of the scenes shot in Atlanta last week, Rowland is decked out in her 70s getup, as she delivers a soulful rendition of “Midnight Train to Georgia.”

Despite the resemblance and the 2016 stamp of approval from Knight herself, Rowland is still very nervous to take on such an iconic role. But based on the first look, Rowland has nothing to worry about.
