Knicks Snap 16-game Losing Streak -blogged by @theAlexisDanielle_

Well it looks like all of New York can finally let out the breath that they’ve been holding in for so long. The New York Knicks have officially snapped what was the franchise’s longest single-season losing streak.

After losing 16 straight games, 12 of them at home, Knicks fans were anything but happy and they had no problem voicing that! Booing, walk-outs, and brown paper bags were all involved in the display of their distaste with their team. However, Monday night the Knicks elevated over the New Orleans Pelicans 99-92, ending their 16-game losing streak and mending things with the New York Natives. The scene could be depicted by the sound of James Brown’s “I Feel Good” blasting through Madison Square Garden, and though the win may not seem like much to some… it was obvious that that song embodied exactly how New York felt in that moment.

Carmelo Anthony led the way for the Knicks with 24 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 assists.  One of those assists being to Jason Calderon in the final 32 seconds, giving him leeway for a wide open 3-point jumper helping to secure the win. After the game Anthony told the media that it was “good to experience that feeling once again” and added that he’ll “take it” in reference to the win.

There were only 2 other Knicks who scored in double digits. One being Langston Galloway who had 21 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists. The other was Jason Smith with 12 points, 3 rebounds, and 6 assists. None-the-less the win was a group effort and one that the entire team needed and could enjoy.

With the recent trade of beloved Knicks Iman Shumpert and J.R. Smith, and the unofficial end to the original Knickstape, the Knicks as well as their fans are forced to look to the future and hope that it’s bright.

As for what the future may entail, the pursuit of a top draft pick for the Knicks is more than likely the main focus. Looking at the bigger picture, this win could actually hurt them more than help them by slimming their chances at getting that top pick, given that the team with the worst record has the best chance at the number 1 pick. Nonetheless it is still very possible for the Knicks to get that top draft pick. As for now, Carmelo Anthony is certain that for both he and the fans “it gets better.” Well New York sure hopes so.
