LA-Bron Takes Hollywood: LeBron James’ Career Earnings Surpass $1 Billion Threshold After New Maximum Contract With L.A. Lakers

After an unbelievable 15th season, and four dominate years in Cleveland, #LeBronJames has decided to take his talents to the City of Angels on a four-year, $154 million max contract with the Lakers.

For the second time in James’ career, he will be parting ways with his hometown team, but this time is a little different.

Back in 2010, James, who at the time was a two-time MVP and six-time All-Star, announced his decision to take his talents to South Beach. After seven seasons and one appearance in the finals, James joined his friends in Miami and went on to secure two championship rings, before he announced he was “coming home” in 2014. From there, the King carried the team back to the finals, and even delivered the first championship to the city in 52-years, as the team became the first in NBA history to come back from a 3-1 series deficit to win it all.

But now, after two-straight loses in the finals, in addition to the subtle disrespect from Dan Gilbert and the team’s front office, James has decided to pack up and leave, once again. This time though, it’s safe to say the decision is understandable.

Under James’ new deal, the King’s career earnings will surpass the $1 billion threshold, as nearly 65% of the total will come from endorsements, as the baller’s business ventures continue to expand. Now, as James heads into his 16th season on a four-year deal, when it’s all said and done, the baller will be just one year away from playing with or against his already dominate son, LeBron James Jr.

Until then though, James will have to suit up and play with his longtime on-court frenemy, Lance Stephenson, and his former NBA Finals rival, JaVale McGee, as the team signed the ballers to one-year deals.

Is LeBron’s legacy already set in stone? Will he win more rings in L.A.? Is LeBron the Goat?
