La’el Collins Signs With The Cowboys, Gets $21,000 Signing Bonus

It appears after all the debauchery involving the death of his ex-girlfriend and her unborn child, La’el Collins has finally found a home in the NFL. The former LSU player will sign a free agent contract with the Dallas Cowboys and also receive a $21,000 signing bonus.

Collins was originally projected to be a first round draft pick until the shooting death of his ex-girlfriend occurred and his draft stock plummeted. Collins vowed that if he was not draft in the 2nd or 3rd round that he would wait until next year. 2nd and 3rd rounds came and went, and no team picked up the offensive tackle. A polygraph and DNA test have since cleared him of any involvement and it appears he can now take on the NFL with a clear conscience.

Despite not being drafted in the 2nd or 3rd round, when it’s all said and done, Collins will get the same dollar amount as the 7th pick of the 2nd round of the NFL Draft.  He is set to make $435k in his 1st year, $545k his second and $656k in his third year. Not bad at all.
