Back in May, Lamar Odom released his New York Times Best-Selling memoir, “Darkness to Light,” which detailed his struggles with drug and sex addiction, as well as his recovery from a near-fatal overdose.
The baller also detailed his longstanding relationship with Khloe Kardashian and his love for Taraji P. Henson, despite his inability to be faithful to her. In fact, in the book, Odom said he never “connected with another black woman as deeply as he did with” the actress. “It’s just that I met Taraji at the wrong time in my life,” he wrote.
But, in a recent interview with TVOne, Odom opened up about his relationship with Henson and explained why exactly it was the wrong time in his life.
“She was a little older than me, but I learned a lot from her because that was the most significant relationship as a grown-up that I had with a black woman,” he said in the ‘Uncensored’ episode, adding that he even traveled to NBA games with a photo of her. “She gave me inspiration. A black woman, working like that, that’s just as good at her craft that I am in my craft.”
However, things came to an abrupt end when Odom started falling for his would-be wife, Khloe. “This ended with Taraji because me being an immature punk, I didn’t know how to tell her I was falling in love with another woman named Khloe Kardashian.”
Odom’s revelation comes just days after, ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ teased a blowup between Khloe Kardashian and her mother, Kris Jenner, over the matriarch’s alleged lies concerning the baller. Although the details of Jenner’s lies remain unclear, Odom did mention a moment of dishonesty, on Jenner’s part, in his book “Darkness to Light;” when Jenner tricked him into popping up on Khloe in L.A.
“It had to be Kris,” Odom said after he revealed the infamous momager told him that her daughter “wanted to speak to him in person,” in his final attempt to win her back after a slew of cheating scandals. “She must of called the paparazzi and arranged for them to be there, knowing Khloe would be caught off guard and react accordingly. Now here’s the kicker- and this will show you how devious Kris Jenner is- Khloe had no idea I was going to be there. She was frightened and jittery. From the outside, it looked like I was ambushing her while she walked to her workout. We were on bad terms, and she didn’t want me there. It all began to make sense,” he wrote.
Odom’s episode of TVOne’s “Uncensored” aires on Sunday, October 27 at 9 pm.
