Lauren Jauregui And Nicki Minaj Clap Back at Tiffany Haddish For Fifth Harmony Joke At The VMAs

During the opening segment of the 2018 MTV VMAs, Tiffany Haddish gave praises to former Fifth Harmony member Camilla Cabello for her 5 nominations. However, that praise quickly turned to shade when Tiffany made a comment, in which some viewers didn’t take too kindly.

Haddish said, “So for those of you watching at home… Hi, Fifth Harmony!” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Fifth Harmony, which includes singers Ally Brooke, Normani, Dinah Jane and Lauren Jauregui, and their fans are still recovering from the group split earlier this year. The group’s hiatus is reportedly due to their record label, Epic, focusing more on the success of former bandmate Camila Cabello than the others.

Nicki Minaj did not let that harsh joke fly and the first opportunity she got to speak on it, she did. While on stage with Haddish, accepting her award for “Best Hip-Hop Song” (Chun-Li), Nicki said, “Shoutout to my fans. I know they’re watching. They’re watching online,” she said, then looked straight at Tiffany and snapped, “And don’t be coming for Fifth Harmony because #NormaniKordei is that bitch.”

She continued in Normani’s defense, saying, “I said Normani is that bitch. Because she is. And I won’t allow anyone to disrespect a black woman in my f*cking face. I had it with this sh*t.”

Group member Lauren

Jauregui, took to #Twitter and vented her feelings about the statement and women tearing each other down. “Waiting for the day when supporting one successful dope woman does not mean insult to other successful dope women. There is energy and space for us all to beautifully coexist and bless the world with our individual truths, stories and talents”, she tweeted.

Does Lauren have a point? Was Tiffany’s joke harsh or just in fun? What do you guys think?
