Lee Daniels Says “F-ck” the Emmys, Then Takes It Back

Lee Daniels thinks he deserves an Emmy for Empire and he feels some type of way about it. The show creator took to Instagram alongside Jussie Smollett to sound off about the Emmy snub. “Fuck these motherfuckers,” Lee said after Jussie told him he needed to be nice and politically correct on social media. Daniels’ hashtagged the post #emmyniceguyoverwith along with  #canfinallypostthis and #timetoberealagain. It appeared that though he said it jokingly, he did feel some type of way.

Lee Daniels has received his share of accolades.  He’s received past nominations for Precious and The Butler, Empire stars have been racking up wins in past award shows and even this year, Taraji P. Henson and the wardrobe stylists on set have all received Emmy nominations for the show. Should Lee Daniels be upset or is it just the nature of the game?

Daniels has gone on to say that the Instagram post was just a joke that obviously went over some people’s head. “Some of these people have nothing better to do than to hate on me for having fun,” he said in a recent Instagram video, “I love the Emmy’s and I’m excited about my cast and crew that got nominated and for the other people that got nominated.  So haters, shut up, go to bed and sit down.”
