Let’s Talk: Is It Inappropriate For An Ex To Post An Old Family Pic On Social Media If The Ex Is Currently Married?

For the past week or so, we have seen videos circulating about Jada Pinkett Smith’s relationship with Will Smith’s first wife, Sheree Fletcher, and how they co-parent for the children. Of course, everyone has their own opinion on how they work things out and be able to be civilized with one another.

Well, for Throwback Thursday, Sheree posted a picture of her, Will, and their son Trey. All hell broke loose in her comments saying inappropriate it was for to post the picture because he’s married. They even went as far to say that she still wants him.

Everyone’s relationship isn’t the same. You cannot do what they do unless you have that kind of relationship with your ex, your new significant other, and so forth. The picture wasn’t distasteful at all. It would be different if the picture was from their wedding day or maybe a date night they had years ago but it was simply the three of them when their son was a baby.

When a relationship is over, majority of us try to get rid of everything that reminds you of that person. Seeing certain things just takes you to a place that you don’t want to be in. Just too many memories. But, in marriages/divorces, some things are kept and placed in an album or in some kind of box. If kids are involved, you are going to keep them for the child in some cases.

When it comes to posting memories, keep it tasteful. Don’t post things out of spite just because you had him first and gave him three kids. If the person has moved on, then let them go. Don’t be petty!

In order to reflect or reminisce on certain pictures or moments and post them on social media, you have to have that kind of relationship with your ex. Meaning, the blended families have to have an understanding with one another knowing that there aren’t any malicious acts taking place.

No one wants to live in drama. If your intentions are to cause problems, then keep it to yourself.

Do you think Sheree Fletcher was wrong for posting the picture?
