Lupita Nyong’o is Working on a Children’s Book About Colorism

Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o is mostly known for her impeccable acting skills and beauty, but now the actress is ready to dive into new territory.

According to Page Six, the “Black Panther” star is now working on a picture book for children.

Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers announced Thursday that Nyong’o’s book “Sulwe” will be released January of next year. According to the publisher, the book will be about “colorism,” and how lighter skin people sometimes receive better treatment.

The main character, Sulwe, is a 5-year-old girl from Kenya who is learning to love her dark skin. As of now, the book’s illustrator is still to be determined.
