Michael Sam Becomes The First Openly Gay Player Drafted In The NFL, Obama Congrats Him

Michael Sam made history this weekend by being the first openly gay player drafted in NFL.  Coming from the University of Missouri,he was picked by the St. Louis Rams in the seventh and final round. He went number 249th out of 256th players selected.

“From the playing field to the corporate boardroom, LGBT Americans prove everyday that you should be judged by what you do and not who you are,” Obama said. He also congratulated the NFL and the St. Louis Rams, the team that drafted Sam.

Sam was being filmed by ESPN when he broke down when he heard the news in his boyfriends arms.
