Mike Epps Talks Wedding, New Special, and Jussie Smollett: “That Was a Threesome That Went Bad”

Over the weekend, Mike Epps skipped the biggest night in Black entertainment to celebrate his own Black Excellence. On Sunday, in front of a star-studded audience, Epps tied the knot with his fiancee and OWN Network producer, Kyra Johnson.

Surrounded by family and famous friends, the two quietly celebrated their union in Newport Beach, California, and according to Epps, it was beautiful.

“Everybody in Hollywood need camaraderie, everybody need friends in Hollywood. It just feels good to know you got a couple friends- some real ones to come check you out,” Epps said.

“I’m a happy married man now,” he added of the union, which came just two days before the premiere of his highly anticipated stand up, “Only One Mike,” on Netflix, which he revealed was also “really really cool” to do.

As he continued, Epps opened up about his worst bombing experience that occurred in Rochester, NY, and left him rethinking his entire career path.

“I went on stage one time in Rochester, NY, told the crowd, ‘Y’all, give it up..’ And they started clapping- ‘For these nuts,” they just said, ‘What!’ And booed me up,” Epps revealed, as he opened up about how far he’s come since then.

The comedian also shared his top four comedians, listing Redd Foxx, Richard Pryor, Paul Mooney, and Robin Harris, before he provided his final thoughts on Jussie Smollett’s incident.

“That was a threesome that went bad,” he said.
