Music Video Director Says Tory Lanez’s Colorism Allegations Are False

Music video directing duo Capone x Guise were caught off guard by the colorism accusation from hip hop artist Tory Lanez. But, they say if there is a culprit in the entire ordeal, they’re in Tory’s crew.

Capone and Guise directed the Nafe Smallz’s “Good Love” music video featuring Lanez, and according to Capone, their team has never had problems featuring dark-skinned women on camera. He explained to TMZ that the directing duo are heavily involved in the Afrobeats scene and the majority of their work features dark-skinned women.

Capone insisted that the swapping of girls on set wasn’t ordered by anyone on his team, adding most of the people present on the set during that particular scene were from Tory’s camp.

The “Good Love” music video is described as highlighting all types of beautiful black women, which included the darker-skinned model in question, who is seen several times in the music video.

Capone said his team would “never allow something as disgusting as what Tory Lanez is portraying,” and they are all very upset that Tory’s allegations have overshadowed their fun vision for the video.

Shortly after the behind the scenes video of the swap surfaced, the two women in question both denied the events Tory described in the caption of the video. Tory was then accused of staging the whole incident for publicity.

This is an On -Going problem in our community of entertainment that needs to stop . As a black man , Sometimes I’m going to joke about the black community just like we all do . BUT WHAT IM NOT GOING TO DO IS ALLOW ANY OF THESE DIRECTORS TO DE-VALUE OUR BLACK WOMEN … countless times I’ve seen directors swap out our women of color for women of lighter complexion, or women with straighter hair ETC . … IT IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY AS ARTIST TO STAND UP AND NOT LET THIS HAPPEN .. it’s BEEN time to embrace our woman of color #BlackIsBeautiful
