Naomi Campbell will be presented with the 2018 Fashion Icon Award from the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA). This probably seems like it would be a no-brainer, but this is the first time she has won the award. In fact, she will join a line of honorees like Beyonce, Rihanna, Iran, David Bowie, and more.

Campbell sat down with British Vogue to discuss the announcement, saying, “It is truly an honor to be recognized by the CFDA with this year’s Fashion Icon Award. Being from London, my personal style has always been tremendously influenced by both the dynamic, ever-changing nature of street culture and the music scene. I grew up in this industry and I’m forever grateful to the iconic American fashion designers who have supported me and celebrated me throughout my career.”

Campbell is THE symbol for iconic fashion movements. Her influence goes back over decades and is still adding to itself.
This year’s show has a June 4th airdate and will be overflowing with melanin as Issa Rae is set to host and British Vogue’s Editor-In-Chief will receive the Media Award.
