New York Fashion Week, The Recap

New York City is one of the greatest places on earth. Dreams come true in the Big Apple. Some of the greatest entertainers, athletes, businessmen and women are from New York. In addition, the biggest events go down in the city, one being New York Fashion Week.

For me, from the outside looking in, #NYFW is the epitome of expression. A week that allows designers, those up-and-coming and established, the opportunity to showcase their designs, style, and hard work. The hustle and bustle of the city, is what makes fashion week that much more interesting. Everyone dressed in their Sunday bests, coming and going, show to show, to witness the newest fashion designs and styles for the upcoming seasons.

This year, I was awarded the privilege to attend a few shows, and I must say it was better than anything I could have imagined.

The day started with The Nolcha Shows at Artbeam Studios. The Spring/Summer ’17 season had 13 runway shows, featuring independent designers all over the world. My first runway show featured the Chinese brand #LuWang by #YangLu. A few celebrities were in the building as well, including Olivia Caridi from #TheBachelor and teen star, #FatimaPtacek.

Usually, when I think of fashion week, wearability isn’t the first thing that comes to my mind, however, the LuWang show definitely gave me a change of heart.

The styles were a simple and wearable, and the colors were vibrant and bright, providing topnotch fashion for the summer.

The second show featured returning brands #ACIDNYC and #RohitavaBanerjee and newcomer #SamanthaLeibowitz.

ACID NYC showcased an interesting theme. All of the men’s and women’s looks were inspired by the sea. Models walked the runway with fish accessories or aquatic prints. Leibowitz showcased a very casual ready-to-wear style. The collection featured very dark pieces, a lot of blacks and greys. However, she brought some color to her collection with a few bright red loose fitted pieces to flow in the summer breeze. The show ended with Banerjee. His collection was very elegant and expensive, laced with silk and gold stitching.

In addition, I was lucky enough to attend the Style 360 NYFW show presented by #AngelaSimmons for #VipeActivewear. Several celebrities came out to support the owner, #MarliesKorijn and Simmons in the showcase of the cutting-edge active wear line. The collection included, skirts, leggings, sports bras and crop tops. Some styles were loose, others were fitted, to suit your preference.

Each fashion show was great in its own right. A few shows provided gift bags, with cute little goodies inside. The sponsors gave away a few things and allowed pictures with their props.

New York Fashion Week was definitely a great experience; I can’t wait until next year.
