NFL Draft Top 3, Hit or Miss?

With the number one pick in the 2018 NFL draft, the Cleveland Browns selected Baker Mayfield from the University of Oklahoma. The Browns desperately needed a QB and with Mayfield’s history as the most accurate passing quarterback in the draft that can run when needed, it’s safe to say he was the right pick for Cleveland. Although he’s had a few on and off the field issues in the past, it will be interesting to see how he does in the pros.

Over the past few seasons, The New York Giants have struggled with their running game. So it was only right they would select Saquon Barkley with their number 2 pick, especially since he is the best available running back on the board. He’s one of the best to do it in a long time and he’s been compared to some of the greats like Gayle Sayers, Barry Sanders & even posted better numbers than Adrian Peterson at his combine. Although he still has to show and prove in the pros, all the scouts are saying he’s a lock-in to be a great player in the NFL. I haven’t heard these type of praises since Calvin Johnson went #2 overall to the Detroit Lions. I think in the NFL he will be a 3 down back because of his durability track record at Penn State & his ability to run and catch the ball.

The New York Jets have taken quarterback Sam Darnold from USC with their number 3 pick. Darnold probably has the best upside of any QB in the draft because he is the youngest (20 years old) out of all the potential quarterbacks. Sam is not only young but has faced NFL talent, week in and week out while playing at USC. He’s one of the best at making the right reads and getting the ball out fast. The Jets decided to move up from No. 6 to No. 3 because they felt he was the best QB option in the draft.

What are your thoughts on the top three picks?
