Nipsey Hussle’s Brother Tried To Save His Life After The Fatal Shooting: “I Just Wish I Would’ve Been There”

Nipsey Hussle’s brother, Samiel Asghedom, made a desperate attempt to save the rapper’s life after he was shot several times outside of his L.A. clothing store. In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Asghedom recalled rushing to his brother’s aid minutes after the shots were fired.

Once he arrived at the scene, Asghedom says he called 911 and followed their instructions, performing chest compressions to help keep Hussle breathing until paramedics arrived. Samiel told to the publication the paramedics put a breathing tube down Nipsey’s throat, inserted an IV into his arm, and then loaded him into the ambulance on a stretcher. As Nipsey was lifted onto the stretcher, that’s when Asghedom noticed there was a gunshot wound in the back of his brother’s head, which prompted him to start praying.

He said if he had gotten there sooner, he would’ve taken more action. Asghedom said, “If somebody would’ve been there… if I would’ve been there… I would’ve shot back. I just wish I would’ve been there.”

Asghedom explained that because the store hired mostly felons, who are prohibited from carrying firearms, no one could help defend Hussle. He said, “Because of that, the man was able to shoot my brother, start running, realize nobody out there had a gun, stop, turn back around, walk up, shoot my brother two more times, start to run, realize nobody had a gun, nobody was responding, ran back up and shot my brother three more times, shoot him in the head and kicked him in the head and then ran off.”

Nipsey’s brother says now he’s just trying to come to terms with his brother’s “execution.” Samiel said, “It doesn’t make sense that somebody from the area, that just snuck up, and just talked to him and shook his hand minutes before. It’s mind-boggling.”

Asghedom said he plans on keeping Hussle’s legacy alive in the Los Angeles community.

“He made something work in an area that was run-down, that people were scared to come to, and he turned it into a landmark. All races. Different states. Many countries. They all come to Crenshaw and Slauson. He was truly the people’s champ,” Samiel said.

He added, “He was a role model to the community, to the kids, and to the mothers and the grandmothers and the community that watched him grow up and seen him as a youngster, a family man, a father, raising his kids.”

  1. So that’s why no one else was able to protect Nip. Every time I see an update, I’m more and more in my feelings. So damn sad RIP Neighborhood Nip…#FlyHigh

  2. DAG, THAT MAN WAS FILLED WITH EVILNESS AND HATE. HUSSLE WAS ABLE TO HELP OTHERS WHO WERE FELONS, BUT IN THE END, THEY COULDN’T HELP HIM BECAUSE THEY COULD GO BACK TO JAIL IF CAUGHT WITH A GUN. THEREFORE THEY COULDN’T SHOOT BACK. SORRY THIS HAPPENED TO A GOOD PERSON TRYING TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
