Odell Beckham Jr. Claims He Is Constantly Targeted With Gay Slurs By Opposing NFL Teams – blogged by @LoveRubyWoo

Odell Beckham Jr. has been at the center of controversy following Sunday’s game between the Giants and the Panthers. After getting flagged three times for personal fouls against Panthers cornerback Josh Norman, which led to his one-game suspension from the NFL, Beckham has been under heavy scrutiny for his troublesome behavior. Over the past few days, more details surrounding the animosity between Beckham and the Panthers players have come to light, including Beckham saying that Panthers players were threatening him with a bat prior to the game. Additionally, there were rumors swirling that Panthers players were hurling gay slurs at the wide receiver.

Hall of Fame wide receiver and NFL Network analyst Michael Irvin now confirms that Beckham was indeed targeted with gay slurs by Panthers players last Sunday. Irvin says that he spoke to Beckham on the phone this week, and Beckham informed him that it happened and also that this was not an isolated incident. As a matter of fact, the star wide receiver claims that gay slurs are directed at him week after week by the players of opposing NFL teams.

“He deals with it a lot. For some reason, everybody goes after him with gay slurs,” Irvin told New York Daily News. “He’s a different kind of dude. He has the hairdo out, he’s not the big muscular kind of dude. The ladies all love him. He’s a star. I wonder why people are going in that direction. It blows my mind. I told him he can’t let stuff that people say get to you.”

Though Beckham has never come out as being gay (in fact, he has been linked to several women), he has raised questions about his sexuality in recent months after posting multiple flamboyant dance videos on social media. Additionally, he was captured on TV after a game seemingly checking out a fellow player’s butt. Social media rumors have been rampant ever since about Beckham being gay. All of this could explain why Beckham was so fired up during the Panthers game and why he went so hard after Norman, one of the players who allegedly participated in the pre-game harassment of Beckham.

Panthers head coach Ron Rivera was not happy about the allegations against his players, saying, “This is an important social issue. If there’s something out there that’s factual, there’s truth, there’s hard evidence, please present it to us as well, so we can react accordingly. We don’t tolerate that here. We don’t. If there is some truth to it we will react to it and handle it appropriately. Until there is, there’s nothing for me to do.”
