Retired NBA Player Speedy Claxton Loses Home To Foreclosure

Former NBA star, Craig “Speedy” Claxton, is having some financial woes seven years after leaving the league.

According to theJasmineBRAND.com, In 2007, Claxton took out a $540k mortgage to purchase a 3,000 sq ft, 8 bedroom, 4 bath home in Far Rockaway, NY.  From April 2015 on forward, Claxton has failed to make his mortgage payments. Because of this, Nationstar Mortgage filed a foreclosure suit stating that Claxton owed $478,328.69 plus interest and late charges.

Claxton blew off his court dates and earlier this month, Nationstar Mortgage went back to court to ask the judge to grant them a default judgement. The judge granted their motion and now the company has the power to kick Claxton on to the street and auction off his home.

Speedy Claxton and his wife Meeka Claxton, formerly of Basketball Wives, split in 2014 after 2 kids and 8 years of marriage. Apparently the divorce is not yet finalized. It’s safe to say Meeka won’t be getting the house in the divorce.
