Reward Increases To $33,000 For Any Information On Missing Toddler Kamille McKinney

The reward for information on missing 3-year-old #KamilleMcKinney has increased from 5,000 to $33,000, as new rewards have been posted.

Birmingham Police Chief Patrick Smith pleaded with the community on Wednesday, requesting that whoever is responsible for the kidnapping of Kamille to return her home safely. Smith revealed that after a search of the apartment complex, there was no new information found. Kamille “Cupcake” McKinney disappeared Saturday night from a birthday party at the Birmingham housing complex where her family lives, CNN reports.

“We believe that you know where she is, and we believe that someone has her,” Smith said. “Please bring this to a safe end and place her back into the arms of her family.” He went on to say that whoever has the girl to bring her to a hospital, police station, or fire station, explaining that he will give the person “safe passage.” During the conference, the chief also announced that a reward in the case had increased to $20,000. Crime Stoppers of Metro Alabama offered the award to anyone who could provide authorities with information that could solve the crime. The $20,000 is a separate offer from the $5,000 that was offered by Gov. Kay Ivey. Members of the Jefferson County Commission also each offered $1,600, which came to an $8,000 donation.

“So, you could literally call with your tip today, pick up your money in cash next week, and you’re totally anonymous,” said Frank Barefield, chairman of Crime Stoppers of Metro Alabama. “There’s no better deal in town than that.” Smith added that it is possible that whoever has Kamille could be moving her around to different locations. The search for Kamille started on Saturday when police say she was taken while at a birthday party at Birmingham’s Tom Brown Village housing community by a woman in a dark-colored SUV. An Amber Alert was issued; police said she may have been abducted by a woman and a man, and that she is believed to be in extreme danger.

A woman and a man were taken into custody Sunday night for questioning after investigators found a vehicle matching the description of the SUV, according to police. The two have not been charged in Kamille’s disappearance, but they have been charged in unrelated cases, police said.
