San Francisco Police Union Inflames The Black Lives Matter Movement With Photo of Dogs- blogged by @niksofly

The San Francisco Police Officers Association landed themselves in hot water when they published a photo of two labs (one black, the other yellow) each wearing signs in its newspaper. One sign reads #BlackLabsMatter, the other sign reads #AllLabsMatter-a clear mockery of the #BlackLivesMatter movement. The photo published at the back of the journal reads “Maybe it’s time we all just sit back and tone down the rhetoric”.The published photo comes at a time when San Francisco Officers are being investigated for racist text messages between department officers, #SFGate reports.

Here is the thing, I don’t know how many times we have to explain what #BLM represents and means. At this point it is willful ignorance. It’s not saying only Black Lives Matter ONLY. It’s saying Black Lives Matter ALSO. It’s inclusion and not separation as many opposers of the movement have attempted to portray. The #AllLivesMatter tag is a counter argument used to suppress the movement. Think of it like this, when the officers were killed last month (Dallas and Baton Rouge), the tag #BlueLivesMatter trended (and usually does without the deaths of officers). Did we have teachers arguing #TeacherLivesMatter or paramedics pleading their cases? What about the nurses, doctors, lawyers and laborers? Not one career path stated a grievance because everyone knew that the tag, as asinine as it may seem, didn’t negate the importance of their jobs. So if it could be understood with reference to jobs, than it should be understood with reference to the social injustices.

The publishing of the picture shows the lack of empathy with regards these very social injustices. Because the dog hasn’t defecated in your yard (no pun intended) then the necessity to prevent it from doing so in the yards of your neighbors is not prevalent. Social Injustice is not just a black or minority thing. It’s an everyone thing. When we turn a blind eye individually to it, in turn we are collectively saying that the lives of out brethren are worthless. #BallerAlert #InTheNews
