Serena Williams Says She May Give Up Tennis if She Has Another Baby

It looks like Serena Williams may trade her tennis racket for diapers, according to a new interview with InStyle Magazine.

Williams will be covering InStyle’s first-ever “Bada** Women” August issue. During her interview, she opened up about being a mom to her 9-month-old daughter, Alexis Olympia. She also revealed that having another child may force her to quit the sport.

“If I weren’t working, I’d already be pregnant,” said Williams. “I don’t know if I want to play if I have another baby…” The tennis star added that discovering her pregnancy last year didn’t make for an easy Australia Open. She went on to explain that her five-month break after giving birth was still strenuous on her body.

“I had a really tough first round and an even tougher second round,” she recalled. “I thought, ‘I’m probably going to lose early. That’s OK. I have a good excuse for the first time.” She added, “[After birth I was] in the locker room pumping before a match because my boobs are so big,” she continues. “When I pump, they go down a size or two and I go out and play.”

While the journey is tough, she says that having another baby is in her future, but right now her focus is tennis.

“I definitely want two [kids], God willing,” she said in a March interview with ET. “But right now, I want tennis as well. So, I’m going to wait and see what happens. It’s definitely not easy,” she added. “I have this undying drive to be the best that I can be. Whether it’s [being] a mom or playing tennis or doing my designing. I just want to do the best that I can.”
