Sports Anchor Fired Following On-Air Prince Tribute (VIDEO)

A news reporter has been fired after he dedicated a segment to the late & great, Prince.

Dan Phillips of Nashville’s Fox 17, began his sports segment with the opening of Prince’s  ‘Let’s Go Crazy’.  “Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to get through this thing called life,” he said before getting into his report on the NHL playoffs. Apparently that didn’t sit well with his bosses and some viewers.

Phillips, who’s been with the station for 10 years, took to Facebook Friday afternoon to announce his departure. “I want to thank everyone for the kind words, comments and positive feedback on this tribute I did to Prince last week. It really means a lot,” he posted. “Unfortunately, there were apparently some viewers, as well as management at the station, who did not feel the same way. They felt I was insensitive. And as a result, I was terminated today.”

Apparently some felt Phillips’ report was insensitive. Do you agree?
