Toy Vending Machine Was Filled With Cocaine

One Los Angeles area mother got a big surprise after putting 25 cents into a toy vending machine at Taqueria Los Altos in Bell Gardens, California. She purchased a ball from the gumball-like machine for her young son, but it suddenly ruptured while he was playing with it and it was filled with a suspicious white substance.

The mother decided to call the police and officers arrived with a drug-testing kit. The substance came back positive for cocaine and law enforcement ended up recovering 136 grams (a little shy of 5 ounces) of the drug from the toy machine.

A spokesman for the restaurant insists they had nothing to do with the drugs and had no idea how they ended up in the machine. “We contracted with this company for the past couple years, but no way are we affiliated with this company. We only lease the location to the company.”

Police agree – they don’t believe the restaurant or the machine’s owner, Snack Time Vending, have any connection to the cocaine. The investigation is currently ongoing, and they want parents to be aware of this when purchasing toys from similar vending machines.
